None taken. I just wanted to make sure I was being overly picky/difficult.

This is a great thread and got me hooked on Allen Edmonds.

I am trying to add a pair of walnut strands to my collection but I can't get the Amazon code to work. Did you have to be signed up for the news letter first?

This is what I was planning to do. Size down half. But the width also seems too much. Size down .5 and go from E to D? Ai ya ya.

    I wear a 8.5E in the 5 last and a 9D in the Dalton.
The 1 boot last fits a little shorter, but wider as expected since the 5 is longest and most narrow.

I appreciate the info. I'm looking forward to having them back for Festivus.

I really would consider a MTO POLO saddle shoe. Thats what I sent in to be resoled but a two toned one in shell would melt my face. Maybe there's enough walnut to make the middle saddle part. Hmmmm...Chocolate/Walnut/Chocolate

This is in reference to the separating heal right? (got a couple conversations going on there)

Reason is my Strand's have the same issue - and it's the must-have last as far as I know (fifth ave, park ave, etc), with a perfect fit. Is this a common manufacturing problem or should I try squeezing into a half size smaller?

Yeah! Its wishful thinking because they dont have any walnut. I'd rather have that makeup you have, but...the shell shortage makes it impossible. I'd really like one with navy shell as the saddle but now that's just crazy talk I realize.

Welcome to the thread. This is how I got hooked on AE in the first place as well.

Yes, you have to signed up for the newsletter and an email will be sent with the code. Only one code per account so if you have gotten the code in the past, this won't work.

Is this normal for a pair AE's after about 25-30 uses?

    Defect?

Normal or not, these are going back to Nordstrom's today.

I would say that is very abnormal for any pair of decent shoes, including AEs.

Did you buy them as seconds? Did you get them very wet and not allow them to dry for an extended period (not sure if water damage would cause that to happen, but I'm sure someone on here would be)?

I'd like to see this look if someone has pictures. Been trying to pull it off to no avail. Wondering if my jeans are too long for this look...

Is that bowing on the right shoe?

I would not stuff them in. I would just fold/roll up the jeans 2-3 times depending on the length. It should be more than enough.

I think stuffing jeans into boots like the dalton looks silly because they aren't calf length. I do this when I wear 'skinny' jeans with frye boots that go halfway up my calf.

I dunno, these are pretty handsome frye boots.

AE needs to make something like this.

I agree. That's sort of what I was thinking with my Shaker Heights MTO, substituting leather for the tweed.

They also don't make the shaker heights in black. I have three tweed blazers that I wear pretty regularly through the winter. The brown ones would be nice for a pairing methinks but $$$.

Spending money on having jackets altered for now. Heh.

The soles look very abused to me. This could pretty much only happen if you wear them in the rain.
