They said how the top of the shoe isn't as sleek and form fitting. The "gap" I guess between the sole and the shoe as well.

Ah well.. I like em so. It does have a little scuff on it but it should buff out with some polish.

I'd say it's a problem now, it's just now getting to AE. Try looking for Alden shell. It appears horween has little to none in stock. What is out there keeps increasing in price. I believe a pair I purchased In January has gone up 40-50 USD already this year. Allen Edmonds is still a great buy at below $700. Some of the exotic Alden models are closing in on $800 or more by the time tax is included. Not to mention the shoe trees, polishes, brushes etc.

I have the AE Walnut calf Strand and AE Brown shell Strand.

Your shoes are not clunky and they are on the same last as the Kenilworth.

Of course they work with dress pants.

If black calf Strands don't work with dress pants, then they don't work with anything. And I am not being sarcastic. :D

Just call or email them your size, and they can give you the full list. Their phone number and email address are on the Allen Edmonds website.

Edit - just saw the smiley. :D

Shell Cordovan, in light brown – called truffle or sometimes cappuccino.

Ah...never heard of that color, but I've seen Cappacino.

What is the darkest brown shell AE does?

That would be dark brown, not trying to be funny.

The darkest brown right now I think is the brown used on the current shell strand

Keep in mind shell takes dye differently so there can be great variance from pair to pair.
