Bumping post on the fit. Really need some advice on this one guys!
I see minor gaping on my right shoe but then again the laces don't look as tightened.

Fit looks great. If they feel a little snug, that should be fine. But if your feet feel like the blood flow is restricted, then they are too tight. My Leeds are snug too, but I like that fit better than being too big. Keep in mind that most shoes will stretch out a little bit over time.

Could you link me to the bick4 conditioner that is for cordovan colored cordovan leather? I thought Saphir renovateur would work magic though. Thanks!

Bickmore Bick 4 is available on Amazon. Its a bit harder to find in a brick and mortar location, but try sporting goods people like to use it to break in baseball gloves, (possibly Ace Hardware also).

Lexol is much easier to find. You can get it at just about any auto parts chain store (Pep Boys, AutoZone, Strauss etc) and Walmart (check the auto section). I also think I've seen it in supermarkets.

Venetian Shoe Cream you can order online directly from them, a cobbler may also carry it. You can get it in a small bottle for like $7.50 directly from C.A. Zoes, or you can buy a gallon from other places for like around $25. The gallon would last all but @mdubs and a few other SF'ers a lifetime.

Edit: The large VSC is a quart not a gallon and its around $14 not $25.

Spoopoker. Balearic1 on eBay. Great selection of sizes and brands, much of it NWT. He gives a lot of measurements, so you can really dial in fit (or at least know what alterations you're going to need).

+1 Spoopoker has amazeballs stuff. Waiting for him to cycle into some more stuff in my size, that I won't get outbid. I can't cut into my shoe budget after all.

I've been eyeing a pair of Rush Streets at the shoe bank in golden brown cxl, my size and for $137 for the past month. I'm not sure if I should get them because I already bought a lot of shoes lately. But I also remember a few months back when I thought about buying a pair of McTavish shoes in cognac at the shoe bank for $137 as well and I thought about it to long and they were gone fast lol. Decisions, decisions

Well, the #filthybarnweasel answer is the time to buy is now...

In all seriousness, here's the thing - how much are you bumming about missing the McTavish? If the Rush St. rises to that level of desire, you should think about the fact that getting a pair later is tough. Not impossible, but tough for what I'm guessing wasn't a high-volume shoe.

But if it is that you just like them, I'd wait for a pair that winks at you. Right now for me that is the Academy in natty cxl, but I've got Truman Marrone Horsehide derbys and Alden tobacco chamois LWB's on order, and they're making it really hard to justify another pair of anything...

I don't know if I have bad luck or am just to picky.

I've worn my blue neumoks twice now and the leather is cracking around the front of the left shoe. They've never been wet, I haven't used any polish on them. Is this just what happens to rough collection leather?

Cross post from the vintage shoe thread. Ordering shoes in 2016 is a breeze. We pick up the phone or place the order via email or directly purchase off the website. It wasn't always so easy and the catalogs shed a little light on ordering shoes in those bygone days. For example Allen Edmonds was proudly advertising their new answering machine in 1970. It offered the ability to leave a message on the weekend or in the evening when one wanted to save money by calling in the evening.

The answering machine was actually a tremendous breakthrough, as evidenced by the 1960 AE catalog. The back page of the catalog provided a handy Telegraphic Code sheet to be used when one wished to call Western Union and send AE a telegram to order those shoes.

Each shoe in the catalog was assigned a code name. For example, the Mac Gregor in black was code named Hamburg and the Briar Scotch Grain was code named the Harlem. This is seen in example 1. Each length and width was also given a code name. My 11 EEE size was code named Gill. So I could tell Agnes from the Steno pool, "Send Allen Edmonds a telegram that says 'Harlem Gill Yellow'" and they would know to send my 11 EEE Mac Gregor shoes Parcel Post COD. This was the final days of such ordering as the code sheet was no longer seen in the 1964 catalog.

Non shoe related...where do you shop for clothes? Mall or MTM or (jealous if so) bespoke? I'm trying to expand my knowledge on clothing in general. I pretty much destroyed Banana Republic on their last few 50% off sales and I'm happy with it BUT there's always something slightly off on the fit with off the rack clothing for me. So gentleman, school me please

Most of my stuff comes from eBay- usually I hunt for NWT deals (I refuse to ever pay full price). My closet is mostly made up of the following brands:

shirts- Ralph Lauren Purple Label, Brooks Brothers, Hamilton, and several Turnbull & Asser
Ties- RLPL, Brooks Brothers, and a ton of others
Suits- J crew (though they kind of suck, so I'm looking at replacing them- possibly with Caruso)
Sportcoats- Polo Ralph Lauren primarily
Pants- mostly PRL, some Brooks Brothers too
Shoes- almost all AE

I also wear a bunch of Patagonia stuff, but since I wear a suit 5 days a week, that isn't really pertinent here.

I know all my measurements, so when I buy clothes online, I can tell immediately if something will fit me, will need alterations, or isn't worth my time.

I'd call and talk to their customer service, send those pix (and more) and see what they say. Hard to tell.
