I have had eyelets added to shoes and this is something you can DYI or it can be done at the local cobbler. You remove the hidden eyelet, insert the new one and then expand the back of the new eyelet with an eyelet squeezing tool. Google it and you will see tons of stuff. My local shoe guy charged me $20 so I had him do it. Here is a pair of Bentons I had recrafted with a different sole and had the eyelets added.

Yea if you have Amex just login and activate the offer before you buy.

Thanks, this is kind of what I was thinking. Any idea on how hard it is to remove the interior eyelet? Just wondering how it's attached in there. Exterior eyelets seem pretty simple to remove (you're really just bending up the teeth on the inside), but I can't see where the interior ones are attached.

Still kind of bummed about the welt rules on MTO and recrafting. Would love at some point to get a split reverse welt done on some shoes, but that doesn't seem to be an option any more. Might have to think about a resole at a local place instead of through AE.

Thanks man. Yeah, now that it's finally spring in NYC (with summer coming up), they're going to get into heavy rotation.

Just joined the Midnightt Navy STRAND-wagon. Stopped by local store that just happens to be on my route to and from lunch. SA confirmed this was the last day, and mentioned a 4 week lead time. Either way, with the Amex offer 225 for a limited release strand is probably as good as it will get. Worst case the color does not meet expectations and I can exchange for oxblood. Contemplated the Cornwallis in the same color but after trying on I didn't like the profile as much as I liked on the shelf.

This is probably the best price you'll see from them at this point. Two years ago, I got my walnut Strands from Nordstrom for $240 during their July anniversary sale, but I don't think the price will dip that low anymore. After all, they've raised the MSRP twice since then.

Nice rotation! Good representation of a number of styles and leathers. Clearly you need more chukkas. You seem to be Strand-deficient (although the Lobb beats it any day of the week). I need to get some Vass or Dinkelacker into my life. I'm surprised at no C&J, is that a width availability choice? And considering you like double monks, I'm surprised you don't have the Lobb Chapel (imo, the most beautiful double monk around).

    No. They're not the same.

Just like the pic right after your post, dark blue goes well with casual. Blue jeans and strands make a great combination for a night out at the pub or to see local music, for example. Something I do often.

I'd have ordered them if they came in any last that actually fit my feet.

Agreed. I really didn't want to buy the walnut McCallisters that I purchased last month so soon after buying a pair of AE's, but that odd Bloomingdale's sale where they matched the anniversary sale price and let you use coupon codes was too good to pass us. Even the RDA prices for calf firsts will probably flirt with $300 this year.

If I didn't have a pair of Strands I'd be all over them for $225.

I almost ordered a pair about thirty minutes ago, but after talking about it with my sales reps, I decided that since what I REALLY want is a pair of blue Leeds or Macneils, I'm going to wait for the trunk show this fall.

Just call a store and place an order. I'm sure they'll still let you place one. When I was on the phone with one of my reps earlier, he said that the website would soon start showing that they're sold out, but they're still taking orders until tomorrow.

Totally agree about the Leeds. I'm waiting for the Leeds or Carlyle.

Yea I hear you on the Carlyle, that would look great in Blue, based on that Blue shell Pic that has been posted here a bunch. Sounds like your SA is a reasonable guy..mine would have tried to make me buy them and then go to the trunk show as well!

Wait, does this mean there will be a blue Leeds for sure this fall? Did the sales rep state that?

I just picked up a pair this afternoon, and had to drop down a half size (width was the same).

No sorry, I more meant he knows how to sell. We didn't talk about Fall sales or any future plans explicitly but both employees were excited about the color.

Purely speculation but considering it sold out if the results and reviews are there I would imagine it could make sense in their current pallet of colors. I would think a darker color like that is easier to QC since it covers up imperfections in leather easier than say a Walnut or the Bourbon dye.

So few CJ models are available in G width, and to get them special ordered requires a hefty markup. If I can get a Vass MTO for 440-550 euros, I don't see a reason to go for CJ unless it's a makeup that I absolutely need. I did try a Pembroke in G width that fit pretty well, and I was close to buying it, but it walking a redundant with my suede Budapesters. And a pair of Alden shortwing a that I have preordered.

The Lobbs replaced my brown shell strands. I got them (1st quality) for a steal during Bespoke-England's "Black Friday" fire sale. I would get the Chapel in a second if I could find my size at a good price. Not quite ready to break the 1K barrier yet, though Lobbs are incredible. And the 7K last fits me like a dream.

    Thanks for the compliment!!
