I'm not sure "mass-produced" applies as they are still somewhat limited in production. In any event, the quality of the car is quite high from both a build quality and performance standpoint I'm not sure any of us should care.

Popularity is a double edged sword - sometimes things are popular because they are great vehicles and fast. Sometimes it just a fashion trend.

I detail a lot of these things and the paint and build quality is as good as anything. Well the Bentley lacquer paint is breathtaking but that is a $300K car.

P.S. It depends greatly on the vehicle but the Ferraris do appreciate a bit more than a 911 in my experience.

Who knew, I figured GT2's would hold well....regardless, it's still one of my favorite Porsches.

When I think of limited production, I think of MB SLR, Porsche Carrera GT, Ford GT, Aston DBS. The 911 is an annually produced car, with more made in a year than the latter have in total existance.

....and in no way would I consider the 911 GT2 to be a trendy car, it's geared towards track and sports car enthusiasts (the same can be said about the Scuderia).

Back on topic, I would go for a GT2 or GT3 as suggested earlier. Although what Ferrari models were you looking at getting?

Sorry, should've mentioned more specs that were relevant. In this case though, they're really not that important...

.
997 Turbo

0-60: 3.8
HP: 480
Torque: 457 ft/lbs

F430

0-60: 3.9 (3.5 in the euro with launch control)
HP: 483
Torque: 343 ft/lbs.

I wouldn't compare those two...

Besides, comparing both is kinda hard due to turbo lag and ****.

Both are pretty dumb cars. I'd rather have a 1970 Buick Gran Sport Stage I and a 2008 Subaru WRX STI and still have plenty of money left over for hookers and booze.

I don't know, that hooker might run you over 80 grand in the long term, after that you'd only be able to afford two beers and the WRX.

With that definition of limited production, I can't disagree.

Still not a huge number of Porsches being produced:

http://www.porsche.com/usa/aboutpors...&id=2006-09-11

Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, again posted a new registration record in Germany in the past financial year 2005/06 (July 31). In this period, a total of 17,207 new Porsche vehicles were registered (previous year: 16,926). The company thus increased the number of new registrations on its home market for the sixth time in succession.

The 911 is built with mass production techniques on an assembly line. It's built in greater numbers than the Cayman and Boxster combined, both of which are outsourced to a 3rd party factory in Finland. If the 911 is a limited production car, I've got some handmade jackets from Kiton to sell you.

Actually if you go back, I stated that the 911 was a mass produced automobile....maybe not on the level of a Honda Civic, but in no way as rare as a Carrera GT.

I would still choose the Porsche 911 twin turbo over the F430, however my bank account is not yet in agreeance.

...even though I would prefer the GT2 over the 911 TT.
