Ronaldo has gone 0/35 on FKs for Portugal (he's something like 3/100 for RM), and missed a PK of all things today. I'm not sure if Austria would have done worse had they fielded 11 goats in white shirts, I don't really know what they did because Portugal managed 22 shots (9 for Ronaldo--who by the way takes 2X as many shots as any other La Liga player) so the Austrians weren't defending...

I wonder what criticism he'll levy against these opponents

not surprising. he's had a lackluster cast, and how many finals can higuain bottle , the fellow should throw away his boots and stay home. can't help but feel much of this comes down to poor managerial history as well as the ongoing politics of the AFA. a shame, really...

Everyone can rail on Hig for not hitting that chip, but that discounts Argentina attacking the whole rest of the game. Can't lay the WC final nor this one on Higuain's finishing because when it came down to it, ARG couldn't hit their PKs.

Further, it's laughable how all the Messi fanboys are placing blame as far away from him as possible, but many of these same people derided CR7 for hitting the game-winning PK in the CL Final. "Dude, you only hit a PK, chill," they said. Oh the irony now.

Messi has been really bad at PKs this started around 2012/13 season, which makes it even more puzzling why he would be selected to take it first. he also had a good run near the 90th min when he shanked it wide (not as bad as aguero's miss though)

Oh how sweet it is; Iceland dumps England out of the 16. Brexit that.

I actually thought his celebration after hitting that PK was a lot tamer than the whole "Look at me! I scored a meaningless goal when we were up by 2 already with a minute left!" display against Athletico two years before in the CL final.

Also, PKs to me are like free throws in basketball. If you suck at them, it's because you don't practice and that's your own damn fault.

I met him in an event before the World Cup in Brazil. When I went to take a pic with him my friend wanted to stir things up and told him I am die hard Germany fan. Chris was drinking and told me jokingly we will crush Germany. I told him not only would you lose to Germany but you might not even make it out of the group stages. He was gob smacked turned things ugly for a minute but he was way too nice throughout the night.

My prediction thu was completely true....I swear I should bet more often on football.

Gary Linekar was great. He opened MOTD after England v Iceland with "Blimey. You've joined us. You must be suckers for punishment." I almost spit my beer out.
