Your reasoning amuses me, mandouche-reincarnation.

highsociety, are you a younger guy? It seems an odd situation, and I'd be uncomfortable in the same circumstances. However, I'd simply thank him again for the compliment and be on my way.

I typically answer questions I don't want to answer.....with a question, or change topics entirely. Despite what others posted on the subject, it's no different than someone asking what something cost.

why not just send him down there now and he can pick up a number of the RLPL suits onsale for $800...and if you really do have the $ and think the man could never afford an $800 suit why not spend a very small fraction on him as a gift, it might actually make you feel good, even better then buying yourself one, try it some time.

For those who don't understant this genius move, the doorman can afford bespoke, but not Purple Label.

Thank you HighSociety, for sparing this man's feeling by telling him the suit was bespoke, instead of Purple Label.

I know this will come as a remarkable and strange notion, but many working class people possess something known as 'common sense' (whether you do or not I don't presume to say). He probably knows that you wear suits that cost more than what you can buy at Macy's. So do the decent thing and tell him the truth. Anyway, I make about a sixth of what you purport to and I wear Purple Label so what's the big deal? ~ H

Yes they were marked down from roughly $4k to $1200-$1400 with extra 30% off so around $980-$850ish I think, that was about a week ago at the Newbury RL here in Boston. They actually had a few left... not sure whats left now though.

Surely he knows you live in a different world by the size of your Christmas tip, no? Or did you stiff him?
