I have been with her for about a year, and want to do something personal. I just cant think of much. Done the jewelry route for the last Christmas and birthday and want to do something different, something else...

To come up with a good idea, you honestly have to know the woman pretty well.

There are some "default" ideas that could work, but you want something special. What interests her?

Book now at the best restaurant in town, take her there (look for the one that's won the restaurant of the year awards), get her a bunch of pretty flowers.

You've been dating a year, you should know her favourites.

But make it a surprise. Tell her you're going somewhere pretty crappy that's nearby, because that was the only place you could get reservations at. The best kind of surprise is a pleasant one!
