(fyi 'camp' is definitely an American term for these places).
Not true, my mother is originally from Thunder Bay, Ontario. We were up there a few years ago and all of her friends referred to their cottages as "camps," I believe the usage of the word originates from the US, but it is used all over Ontario. In my exprience the term is not used anywhere else in Canada, especially in BC where everyone uses the much more cultured, "chalet." A.

hmmm - I always heard it used by the yanks to refer to the big places in the Adirondacks and near Lake Placid. My bad, I guess... edit - re: chalet. This term is also used in Ontario for the slope-side properties in "Ski-Country" i.e near Collingwood. Please note the use of quotation marks.

I've heard the term "chalet" used in Ontario as well, I was referring to the term "camp" to describe a cottage. I've never heard it used anywhere else in Canada. As for Ontario "ski-country" (awkward silence) um...yeah....ah...Blue Mountain was "nice." A.

I got the term "camp" from my summers spent in the Finger Lakes of central New York.

Montreal has pretty good shopping. The Harry Rosen here is about 50 times better than the one in Toronto, at least from when I've been in the Mtl one, I was quite impressed. I was told that Vie L'Uomo was great, until I went there asking for a bowtie and they tried to sell me a clip on. To hell with them. There are many high end boutiques popping up on Peel st. Lots of young trendy shops on St. Laurent (American Apparel, Cavalli, Puma, Addidas etc...)
