What are people's thoughts about these metal plates? I've never used them before. Are they especially noisy. Do the benefits (reduced wear, etc.) outweigh the negatives (clicking noise, aesthetics, etc.)?
I've recently received a pair of EG's with such metal plates, and I shared your concerns. I even was afraid I might scratch someones wooden floor with these plates. To date I can say that I find these plates aren't noisy at all, so no clicking when I walk around on them. I'm as silent as ever... As to aesthetics, the plates are under the shoe and follow the line of the sole exactly, so the can't be seen from above when I stand, walk, sit. And if someone does see them, I don't really care. I don't think they detract from the view of the shoe as a whole. I've also found that I don't scratch the wooden floors if I walk normally. So, for me, there are only benefits to them. I just wish I started ordering my EG's with these plates earlier. MtB
