Thread Starter
Hi,
I am 6" tall and weigh around 195 Pounds,My target is around 175...
I recently started jogging on a daily basis,2 times in a day, first in the morning on the treadmill for 20 mins(jogging),and then later in the afternoon for an hour, but thats just brisk walk, maybe 5 mins of jogging in it...Anyway The question which i wanna ask is, is this routine ok? Or shud i add some other exercizes as well?

It's all about calories in vs. calories out. Eat healthy, choose lower calorie foods. Go for fruits and vegetables, lean cut meats, whole grains and take vitamins and supplements. As well, instead of eating 3 times a day, you should eat 6 smaller meals/day. Don't forget to also drink at least 8 cups of water daily.

By eating a healthy diet, and increase the # of times you eat, you will raise your metabolism which in turn will help you burn more calories.

As for exercising, you should also incorporate high-intensity resistance training into your routine (ie weights). Muscle burns fat!! Meaning the more muscle you have on your body, the more fat your body burns

IMHO burning fat (losing weight) is 60% diet and 40% exercise.

I'd prefer to do lunges, squats, push-ups, jumping-j's, knee-lifts, kicking, punching, etc. Jogging doesn't involve enough body parts and has too limited a range of motion for me.

My dad is 5'11 and weighed about 185, he started running long distances just under a year ago and now he weighs like 167 I think he told me the other day. My mom was actually saying he needed to GAIN weight.

Two or three times per week, you should do some resistance exercise to increase your muscle mass. Every pound of muscle you add will cause your body to burn an extra 70 calories per day.

Rather than a weight number, the ideal thing is to reduce your body fat percentage. You will lose the fat, but if you gain muscle at the same time, you will appear to be losing weight more slowly, while you are actually getting healthier and looking better.

Oh, surely olympic power lifters can eat 14,000 kcal a day and stay lean!

Jogging is great if you enjoy it.

If you hate jogging, though, I'd find something else, because you'll quickly find other things to do instead of your regular workout.

Olympic Lifting (clean & jerk and the snatch) and Power Lifting (Deadlift, Bench Press, and Squat) are 2 different sports. Powerlifting is not an Olympic sport.

Dude, it's a new hybrid. It's in the next Olympics along with sprint skipping, swim skiing, and the three-legged race.

More like 80/20.

Jogging grinds down your joints and your mind. Run or walk, but don't half-ass it. If you can't run for long distances, do intervals. I like doing "lightposts": run to one lightpost, walk to the next; repeat. It's awesome.
