Authentics are among the highest rise jeans I own. Also and I need to talk to a Mauro, Kiya or Whodini type about this and maybe they have some fit insight, but one thing that struck me about the fit is this: Typically you think of a jean leg as being centered on your leg, or relatively equidistant in all directions outward from your leg. I find that the Authentics sit closer in and tighter on the inner thigh (the felled seam) and inner leg all the way down and have more room on the outer thigh (the selvage seam) I noticed this as I was going back and forth with my 47 LVCs and the Authentics trying to place just what it is I like about them. It's more noticable on my destroyed pair than on the rigids. Don't know if this is due to the saddle or something else but I like it.

Damn.

The SA told me that the store on 59th and Lex had 2 pairs. Bam! I head over there at lunch to get a pair. I find one and go try on. I open them up and a button pops off of the button fly! D'oh!

I ask the SA for another pair. He says, sorry, I just gave them to that guy over there.

I look over and the guy must be 60. No joke. He sees me talking to the SA and comes over.

"Uh, sir, uh, why are these jeans $88 and the other jeans $54? Is it because all the dark blue jeans are more money?"

"Well, sir, these are selvage"

"What's that?"

I'm watching all of this hoping the guy decides to put them down.

"They are a higher quality denim"

"Oh, okay"

Please put them down, please put them down, please ....

"Okay, I'll take these then"

D'OH!!!!!!!!!!!! Foiled by the dude who 10 ten minutes ago had no idea what selvage is.

No other stores in the area have my size.

You snooze, you lose.

Went in yesterday to use my 40% off coupon. Had no intention of looking for jeans. Had given up on the Straight Fit Rigid Selvage I was obsessing over (see above....checked every damn store in NYC and Northern NJ)

After looking around the entire store I casually looked at jeans. To my great surprise, there were the jeans! Snatched em up quicker than you can say HAM SANDWICH WITH BUTTAH. For $52 these babies are real.

Did anyone score any new 40% off coupons yesterday??? That was a nice little gem.

Do the Selvage shrink after wash? They don't carry the length I wanted in the store, got the little longer length, I will buy a shorter one from the website for comparisons.

All denim will shrink if you try to make it. Alteration is a better choice. I was able to get a full run down of the selvage line if anyone is interested. Authentic Fit (non buckle back) 5 washes: Rigid (raw) Rinse (one wash) Pale Blue (basically a Junya type wash, very light blue) Rustic Wash (medium blue with brown weft and destruction) Crunch Tint ( A PRPS look medium wash, medium to light lots of brown in the wash) Authentic Fit (Buckle Back) 2 Washes: Rigid (raw) Mechanic (similar to the crunch tint but just slight destruction and no brown weft.) Standard Fit Rigid (raw) Rinse (one wash) Straight Fit Rigid (raw) Rinse (one wash) Loose Fit Rigid (raw) Skinny Fit Rigid (Raw) I put hands on the rigids this weekend. The Rigids are the hardest raw denim I have seen Gap produce in my tenure with the company. Far stiffer than my Gough or last years rigid skinny. I expect these to wear better than Gap's prior raw offerings.

yea the denim feels pretty sturdy and tough for a mall brand.

maybe a stupid question but is the buckle the only difference between the buckle back and regular authentic or are there any other details to differentiate the two? store i went to only had the buckles so i couldn't compare. if i bought another pair, i'd probably get the regular. i don't know if the buckle serves any real purpose, but it doesn't get in the way and it's not even visible really if you have a belt on so it doesn't bother me.

For my first 40% off coupon, they didn't have my size. Just a few days ago I patiently waited to check for my 2nd 40% coupon and they didn't have my size. I'm cursed. I got the new denim jacket. I haven't worn it yet because I need to get alterations. The sleeves are very long.

I believe a selvedge skinny fit is coming for Holiday 09 but I cannot confirm this. Skinny as of now is all garment dye non selvedge.

Thanks for that summary Ohhai! I wore my Authentic Rigids for the first time this weekend and I was lovin them. Wish I could wear them to work !

I saw the new 69's in Skinny Selvage in 3 stores in NYC this month. Tried them on just for a laugh. They fit considerably tighter than the straights. After a few knee bends they seemed to give a little but I just didn't think a dude my age (37) should be trying to rock skinny jeans.

The Fall 09 Elevated Skinny Rigid was released in select stores the first week of August (I'm currently wearing my pair). Disclosure: I am a Gap employee.

A sales associate in the Vancouver store told me they were expecting the skinny selvedge for this Wednesday.

And I confirmed this as well. It's in select flagships now with more to come.

Also there is a fall Chambray popover for flagships as well as a denim shirt with USN pockets exclusive to flagships.

We've had the Skinny Selvage in my store for a few weeks now. I have a pair; I like them. They're not that skinny... They're slim. Inseams seem to run a bit longer than usual vs. tagged in the Skinny, as well.

http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do...scid=675330002 Will these jeans fade, just got them for 44 bucks(g.f employee discount) and I LOVE the fit. I understand they already went through a process of being washed and destoryed and such, but will they still fade where the indigo is still very dark ? thanks in advance.
