EDIT: constantine beat me to it I'm starting a new job at Gap this week. I'm glad there's at least something semi-interesting happening with denim there, and I actually like the looks of some pieces from the upcoming collection.

They get one detail really wrong that the ur-1969's had right: the selvage coin pocket. On the ur-1969's - who designed them? Wasn't it Adriano Goldschmeid or Rogan Gregory, someone like that - the coin pocket was rolled in on top, with the selvage edge inside. It was a classy touch. These new ones have it exposed on top for a gauche look.

Well I was just at the gap at the grove and I saw they had a bunch of the limited editions stuff left over. I tried some on but they didn't have the fit I want in the size I need. BUt anyways, I was checking out the details and I saw: hidden rivets and tailored belt loops. I quickly looked over the jeans to check out other aspects of the contruction and it seemed these are pretty solid. The denim can't be all that bad either, I mean when have you ever had bad selvage japanese denim? These may be the best raw selvage jeans for the price.

Will there be new black ones or are they all indigo?

Is this the new stuff or the old stuff you're talking about? I didn't think they launched the new stuff till later this week...

Wish I'd seen the sale earlier - I woulda picked up another pair of 69 selvedge white jeans.

Huh. It's been years since I've been to a Gap, but skinny selvage looks just about identical to KMW 1980s. Levis should have done this a long time ago.

women's selvage too?

I used to be a mass Gap fan, but their clothes seem to fit me so weird these days. XS shirts fit like mediums a lot of the time, and the back rise of the jeans seem so short. Sorry for the quick rant.
The XS is too big, but the back rise on the pants is too small. So, you're tiny, but with a big ass. Interesting.

so i guess the new denim is supposed to *officially* launch tomorrow.

Can anyone else confirm their new 1969 line dropping tomorrow in NYC ?
