That's quite weird.

Actually some helpful stuff about dealing with odor issues and worrying about getting dry jeans wet, I've been checking it out for a while now. Some off stuff though...

I'm getting really sick of Nudie and Evisu freaks, to be completely honest. Jeans are really cool, don't get me wrong, but they are just jeans, not holy objects. I really like the 45RPM philosophy more - basicallyk, wear them the way you want to. If you never wash your jeans, do that. If you are type to wash them after every wear, do that. Do subtle patching or let your freak flag fly.

It's all marketing. There are only an abundance of Nudie and Evisu freaks because Nudie and Evisu market themselves very heavily to "You've never had good quality jeans until you've had ours, *this* is the real way to do it..." People don't feel comfortable buying a product that isn't marketed in a way that makes them feel like they bought the "right thing" for what they want, which is defined by the company. Oddly enough, the real Nudie and Evisu freaks tend to be a little shorthanded themselves when it comes to understanding and knowledge of denim. They both inarguably make some nice, high quality jeans (although I don't really like Evisu cuts personally), and it's cool that they're bringing in a lot of people to the unwashed denim cult, but it is getting really annoying. Some of the pictures on the My Nudies gallery are neat, but if you look at people's responses, theyre always damning anything that doesn't look like the images on the front of the Nudie website, which is a shame, really. Good jeans are going to look great, regardless of if you wait till humanity is extinct to wash them. I agree, 45rpm has it right - there is NO wrong way to wear or wash your jeans - do it however want and be proud of your style.

I agree with LA Guy, I'm getting pretty sick of all the ballyhoo, especially from Nudie. When I started wearing them a few years back, this subculture of theirs was charming, but now it has gotten too out of hand..... and if you look at some of the pics of used jeans in the little booklet, some of them are DEFINITELY not done naturally (clues are found in the way the whiskerings end and flow). As for 45RPM, yes, they do have some very nice jeans... and thier attitude of "do as you please" is great... but the prices are a bit ridiculous... my wife almost gave me a kick when she found out how much they cost . How many denimheads can afford these jeans, let alone let them fall into disrepair (as some 45RPM ramblings suggest)?

What really freaked me out about the site was the poll on waist size. Now I have a vision of emaciated people wearing the same pants everyday and taking them off and laying them on a shrine.

Well, but I think if you do a poll on their average age, it probably be around 20 yrs old or younger. I ain't surprised by their behaviour, but I think at least 80% will grow out of it and move on other brands sooner or later

I don't think that this would be quite accurate. I would say that the average age would probably be in the mid to late 20s, and that a solid number of those polled would be in the 25-35 age group. Two things to consider: 1) Europeans and Asians tend to be considerably thinner than Americans. I wear a 50R EU, with a true 33 waist (although slowly, this is being lowered to a true 32 for my impending wedding) and am constantly told on European trips that I need to buy a large. I am 5'11" and 165 lbs, and not large by any American standard. 2) People who are interested in this stuff tend to be considerably more body conscious than the general population, and more than people interested in "traditional" styles as well.
