linen jeans

With spring imminent, the time has come for me to purchase my first pair of linen trousers. I wanted to get the forum's opinion on these linen jeans by E. Zegna. http://www.neimanmarcus.com/store....&cmCat= Your thoughts are much appreciated, thanks. Brian

I like linen jeans a lot, and go out of my way to try and find them. The Zegna's lookl nice. My favorites, however, are Loro Piana linen/cotton blend jeans. They retail for $175 and you can get them a Neiman's, among other places.

Ah, I know the ones you are talking about demo.  I tried on a pair before, and I like the idea of having a cotton/linen blend.  If I remember correctly, the LP's were cut pretty slim. I should look into those again.

They are definitely slim, particularly in the leg. I go up two sizes from a 36 to a 40 when I wear them.

Those are nice jean cut "pants", but I refuse to call those jeans. Jeans are made out of denim... at a very least, heavy cotton twill. Sorry, rant ended.

Very nice looking, but for the price, I would prefer a high-quality, heavy 100% linen. Trouser cut. Great drape, but the wrinkles keep it real.

They're high quality "jeans". I have these and also a reversal pair that is blue on one side and brown on the other.

Oh, sorry. I really didn't mean to imply that they weren't high quality. I was just trying to say that I prefer high quality linen to high quality linen/cotton blends. That's no indictment on these "jeans" or your/his taste. Just stating personal opinion.

I think I will check out both the Zegna and Loro Piana trousers. My only concern is that the white will show any spec of dirty quite easily.

LA Guy I understand your rant but jeans are more about the cut, and in particular the pockets, than the fabric. How about 'jeans cut slacks'?

"Jean cut pants" or "Jean cut slacks" I can live with. Jeans are jeans though.

Just think what a British English speaker, such as myself thinks of when he hears that.

Daisy Dukes (if you are unfamiliar with the term, google "Daisy Duke" and "Dukes of Hazard"). Something that men do not look quite as good in.
