impressive pic, and nice shelf, but in the pic itself is about 40 pair.

I know vox has another North wall and East wall and SE wall, but I'm guessing half of SFers with more than 3000 posts have more than 40 pair.

This is the evolutionary male equivalent of those women who fall madly in love with a building or a railing. Whatever mania that photo illustrates should probably be named after Pantone.

How do you pick?

I'm sure a lot of people on this board have more than 40 pairs of shoes. But I'd say only a small handful of posters have a collection of that caliber. It isn't all about quantity, although the quantity in itself is impressive.

Someone should correct me if I'm wrong, but if I'm not mistaken, most traditionally made shoes (eg ones that don't use gemming) are bespoke. There are a few RTW makers who don't use gemming - Stefano Bemer is one - but the others I know of are Cleverley, Saint Crispin, and Vass custom lines. Which would mean that almost everything on the top shelf is bespoke. Even the stuff that is not is still Bemer-level. Most people on this board don't have 20 pairs of bespoke shoes, and who knows what else is on the other walls.

I imagine Portnoy has a similar setup, only with more glass cases and spotlights.

The Vox-Aportnoy Shoe Battle would be epic. Hope there is enough space on the servers.

East wall. One of three with shoe shelves.

On this wall, top row? No gemming. Bottom row? With gemming and could explode any moment.

No Aldens on this wall. They're on the North wall.

Just a beautiful sight. Thank you for sharing.

Bespoke shoes are the next thing that I'll be looking into since I suddenly have both a somewhat local possibility and also one of the well-known makers who does not typically travel to Boston has offered to fly up to see me whenever they're in NYC.

Must be nice
