Can we be real for a second? Don't act like you just stepped in politely asked for an opinion and were verbally berated. You knew darn well that your combative wording and your unpopular opinion would be counter to that of most people in SW&D and now that you got exactly what you're looking for, you're playing the victim card. If you didn't understand that using phrases such as "twig arms" and "teeny weeny bean poles" might upset some people you're either extremely naive or unbelievably childish. If you weren't looking for a debate you would have posted this on the MC forum and everyone would have agreed with you. You KNEW that this would be the reaction you got and it's EXACTLY why you posted it here. I would love for Brooks Brothers to fit me how I like my clothes to fit. I spend much more than I should for a similar look but in a fit that is flattering to my body. I run daily, my strength training consists of nothing more than push ups and situps, and I watch what I eat -- their clothes aren't built for me. Would I send them a letter saying I would like their clothes to fit me? Perhaps. Would I go over to MC and whine that they should fit me by right and take subtle jabs at people who "eat too much" and "drink beer" and whose main activity consists of "mowing the lawn"? I'm too old for that.

Hickey cuts according to European sizing conventions. For most European brands, a 38R is a medium, as their measurements indicate (usually, for a slim cut shirt, a 2" allowance is made in the chest measurement). And I am reasonably athletic (though getting fatter than I used to be.) Zegna and other large Italian brands make special cuts for the US market that billow on me if I don't size down. So I do. You should do the inverse, and size up. A 46R is therefore an XXXL, and XXL is a 44R.

You've been around from the beginning, and should know that this is sort of a silly complaint, and that your OP was deliberately provocative.

Is this thread ******* serious? Why would they care that if they redesigned the line they'd get another $500? "You know, Chevrolet guys, that if you made a car that looked and felt like a Cadillac, I would give you my business." I'm sure when they get your email, they'll be rushing off to completely overhaul the templates for their shirts. How arrogant is it to think that telling a clothing company that they ought to tailor their clothes to your precise tastes will, or even should, have any sort of impact on them whatsoever? If you want a classic menswear fit buy your $500 of shirts from a brand that makes a more traditional cut. This is not difficult, because there are a lot of them. There are few enough makers that actually make shirts with slim arms. By the way, I could probably fit that shirt and my arms are in no danger of snapping off when I lift heavy objects, so we're good here. Wrong forum, wrong attitude.

I am not leaving the forum-- I just will not expect SW&D to accept any criticism of slim fit. Whoops.

Wahh wahh I'm too big to fit into most shirts.

Wahh wahh I'm too small to fit into most shirts.

What's your point? Lots of people have difficulty finding their size. I'm one of them, I don't send angry letters to people about MY SIZE not being right for their products.

every one of those brands you mentioned are cut for fat americans. i once tried on a jcrew shirt in xs for ***** and giggles (because i would never lower myself to actually buy that crap), and it was almost laughable how big it was on me...

46 is an XL??? not if you go by conventional sizing

36=XS
38=S
40=M
42=L
44=XL
46=XXL

but yea most brands have fat guy sizing where everything is bigger than it should be. Not to be a dick but you seem to have been expecting Old Navy sizing on a brand that is targeting "fashion boys" who are into really slim fitting gear.

i actually think it is more like:

34=XS
36=S
38=M
40=L
42=XL
44=XXL
46=XXXL

^^ in many designer Euro sizing it is. but most sizing charts I've come across (as well as label sizing) corresponds to a 38 being a size Small...but I personally agree with the Euro style sizing as being "accurate" in wider sense
