Ah, sorry about my previous post. Using shaving mirrors. They can be square or round. Although I'm not quite sure how you associate round with female... Shaving mirrors aren't hand held. They're either on a stand or have suction cups. The color is something like chrome, nickel, or gold.

I guess it's easier to make something look right when following the features of the face, even if the lines are not technically straight or parallel (after all, a human face is not exactly symmetrical either).
Human face may not be parallel, but everything is looked at in reference. People don't get glasses that are strictly "even." Oftentimes, glasses are adjusted for your face, so it looks even and parallel to everything else.

I have a mirror I can angle so I just do that and use my DE razor to trim/shape my sideburns.

Yeah, I'm thinking I should get one of those. Also as Berticus suggested.

Hopefully no one has one earlobe an inch or two below the other one.

Even if one did, I think it would be better to level the sideburns with the earlobes, since it would probably look more natural.

+1 for using a trimmer.

I trim to my earlobes also. However, it is very difficult for me to do it with my razor, probably because I use a double edged one. With the razor they end up being noticeably uneven as where I aim is often not where the cut occurs. The trimmer works well though.
