Can Patent Leather shoes be used for anything other than tuxedos? - Page 2

Man this thread is screaming for Cruiser. Someone send him a P.M. It's devolving into one of his "WEAR ANYTHING YOU LIKE, TASTE AND STYLE IS SUBJECTIVE" threads.

Military dress, perhaps? I'm assuming you mean patent bals rather than evening pumps; I really can't imagine the latter looking acceptable with anything other than formal dress. For a lounge suit I certainly can't see it coming off well; perhaps there is a casual outfit which would take patent shoes and not look awful. I can't think of one offhand, and wouldn't do it myself, but I suppose it's possible. But I have an irrational hatred of patent even for evening, and so may not be the best judge...

I think with jeans they look awful and very Eurotrash. I keep seeing patent black shoes on sale and am contemplating wearing them with my usual slim suits though I'd prefer calf.
