Best deal you've ever gotten on ebay? - Page 4

On second thought, my current bid is on an item from a retailer. Do retailers generally retract the offer if bidding ends and the price is much lower than what they might expect for it?

Nothing quite so stunning as some of these deals. Won a pair of C&J Shelton's yesterday for £59 that look barely worn from the soles and will fill my Norwegian Toe gap:

Unworn pair of brandy shell cordovan 1960s Florsheims for $3.99.

Better than that, though, was an 18th Century American Windsor chair. The buy-it-now price was 99 cents. I thought it had to be a mistake but figured why not see what happens. I got it for 99 cents. The seller was... a bit eccentric, to be polite.

As a size 36" chest I never seem to land great deals on the coats and jackets I see as there's a of people looking for the same thing, including all the skinny indie-rockers after a cheap blazer. Yes, I may be there with a minute to go as the high bidder on £17.85 but then the snipers come in and the not-especially-amazing item goes for £80+. If I was a 42" chest I reckon I could dress like a king for very little outlay from eBay.

I got a really nice vintage western-cut vintage shirt for £5 that everyone around me seemed to think was amazing and a cool used extra small orangy-tan leather jacket for £50 that everyone wanted to know about.

More generally, I've had some great steals on eBay, usually when the listing was typoed or didn't explicitly state the actual model, which puts of bidders. I got some badly listed Canon camera collection for £1000, kept the one lens I wanted and sold the rest individually on eBay for nearly £1600 with decent listings.

eBay, Freecycle, Gumtree, B&S boards - aside from discount outlet centres and sales I get most everything second hand. It's easy to live off capitalism's waste.

Jeebus. I thought my $61 brand new in box suede AE Delrays were a good buy.

I got two Zegna sportcoats, one pure cashmere, the other silk/cashmere. $35 each. Both from the same seller, at the same time. Probably wear those two jackets more than anything else I have.

As long as the auction ends with a bid, the seller is required to honor it (at least according to ebay rules). The only way for a seller to back out is by canceling all bids and then ending the auction early.

They couldn't have been worn more than once. Besides, they have external eyelets & full leather toplifts with two rows of brass slugs. Polo coat of arms on the sole & inside. I don't think anyone has ever seen these before this. Some crappy pics from last year's contest:
