I got an unworn second-hand pair of the ankle-height moccasins about 2 months ago, which has the crepe soles. I wore them for about a week, not much beyond just regular concrete sidewalks. What began to happen after a week was that not only did the stitching that held the crepe sole in place become worn down, the glue that held the edges securely started to come undone as well. I had to re-glue the heel of the left sole, but I can see over another week that it just isn't going to remain secure.

Anyone know if it is possible to go to a shoe repair place and ask them to attach a camp sole a la Quoddy's? I can see from earlier posts that Arrow doesn't even redo their own crepe soles. A camp sole on these would be just about perfect for city streets.

All things considered, if I can figure a way around the unglued sole, it would my greatest of all time moccasin.

Bumping this up - anyone have info/pics on these? I am thinking of ordering a pair of two-eye mocs for fall, trying to decide between these, maybe some Quoddys, etc.

Any input?

Just got back from the Arrow Moc place in Hudson Ma. where they are made, decided to check it out after coming across this thread. All I can say is wow.... their products look great and they are made to order, very nice stuff at great prices.... some almost half as much as Quoddy and imo with on par if not better quality. I am placing an order this week and will have much stuff in 4-5 weeks so I will post pics at that time, cant wait!

just curious but why did you decide to go with the crepe? after meeting with the owner and discussing the options with him, I decided away from crepe, mainly because it cannot be resoled and if you get the double leather sole, it should last as long if not longer than the crepe....

was it purely from a looks point of view? I didnt actually see any there, have only seen the pics on the Japanese website

I have a pair of oi polloi style arrow mocs ordered directly from the factory. The crepe sole is not an option on their rudimentary website, but if you call at the end of the day when they're almost finished working you can usually get someone on the phone and order the sole, "special order." That said, I love them, but they are definately more of a traditional moc. Compared to the Quoddy Maliseet, they are unrefined-no soft leather lining on the arrows. I like them both, but in my opinion they are different types of mocs and call for different occassions. The one draw back to the crepe sole is that it is not re-soleable. They are machined on, the owner said and can't be removed without damaging the underlying leather.
Cheers,

Well I think based on my conversation with them and what I've read about the boots, it seemed like the crepe sole would be more comfortable since I am planning on walking around on concrete.

Mine were attached in the same way as the 1st link.
