Either way its a hell of a lot. I ball parked the $250K figure thinking about inflation as well as the rapidly increasing relative cost of education.

I have already started telling my kids that they are getting the government to pay for their education - one of the military acadamies or ROTC. they need to get a first rate education, and for me not to have to pay for it.

I have GF and when I see hotter chicks (when I'm with or w/o her), it kills me by not being able to do anything about it. Do you married guys get this kind of feelings? If so, how do you cope it?

Yeah, my parents were cool at first. They said, if I get straight A's, they'll pay 80%. That didn't happen. Now, at the school I'm at, they pay nothing and I'm splitting it between saved money (about 1/3 of tuition) and student loans. I couldn't imagine it any other way, really. It was hard to take it seriously when it was basically a free ride to go make friends and party. Now that I have to sweat and work my ass off to pay for my education, it's a lot harder to blow it off.

there will always be women you want to nail. hopefully, your eventual wife remains one of them.

i have said before, i cheated on every gf i had with my wife so obviously, she was the one i kept coming back to. there were 2 women i dated that i probably could have been happy with and maybe there's one out there i could be equally happy with/more happy with, but i feel and felt that i found the right one.

Yes all the time. You look away and say three Hail Marys really quickly. A stiff drink also helps!

I see - so your $1m figure is actually 2029 dollars?

all the time. I think that you are only dead when you stop.

and it isn't just "hotter" chicks, every now and again there will be a woman who isn't nessasarily "hotter" than my wife, just something about her is atractive, and it gives me a little stiffie, but nothing that would make me want to act on it.

This is very confusing - so you discounted back the 2020-2029 expenses and capitalized the 2009-2019? What rate are you using to discount and capitalize? Why bring up 2019 dollar estimates in a conversation?

Of course, it's perfectly normal. You transfer these feelings onto the wife when you get home.

The whole point is it was an estimate. I'm not a quant. I'm a flack; I failed statistics 4x in college. I was just throwing a guesstimate out there. $1M was just a nice round figure to use for conversations sake. Raising kids and paying for their college educations is very expensive and I wouldn't be suprised if the costs totalled something close to the equivalent of $1M 2009 by the time I put my kids (if I have them) through school in 20+ years.

OK. I just had twins and was wondering if I should give them up for adoption now since I don't have $2mm (2009 dollars) on the side for them
