Over-eaters use food as an anesthetic to cover their feelings. The problem is admitting they have a problem. There is normal eating and there is over eating, just as there is social drinking and there is alcoholism.
Another problem is that most non- addicts cannot understand addiction, since they have not experienced it.

They're not addicted to food, they're addicted to being lazy and wanting everyone to hand them something. Less than 1% of the people auditioning truly wanted to lose weight and needed help. The rest wanted to win on a show and get free weight loss with minimal personal conviction.

No. The casting calls are different from the show in terms of sponsorship.

One of my college buddies was on a few years and won second place or something like that.

He has since parlayed that into a motivational speaker position. Great dude too, couldnt imagine it going to anyone better.
