A tragic loss. Over the years, Lone Star hasbeen the site of many legendary musical performances. The Band and its various members (Danko/Manuel/Helm, Danko/Helm, etc. etc.) were regulars. Sad loss in tha annalas of classic rock n orll. RIP. http://afinecompany.blogspot.com/200...-building.html

I haven't seen any personally, and yeah it's been defunct for a while. I have a lot of bootlegs of various rock acts from the 80s and early 90s and many take place at the Lone Star.

The Lone Star got a lot of good talent w/ an emphasis on blues, r&b/country, and the giant lizard on the roof was kinda cool. I think the lizard went downtown, and the cafe went up the w. 50's or 60's as the Lone Star Roadhouse (sorta like Max's Kansas City) to a bigger space and was never the same. The 13th St. spot has most recently been a Korean deli w/ some kind of nightclub (tied in to the deli!) on the 2nd floor. It's been boarded up since a bad fire some years ago.

Can remember Fabulous Thunderbirds, Taj Mahal, Radiators....
