My brain is broken HALP

I went on vacation to Europe a few weeks ago. The combined effects of jet lag and being awake for 2-3 days straight in the airport/planes on the way home was totally ruinous for my sleep schedule. Anyway I'm back to going to bed at 12, getting up at 8, and I can't imagine I haven't paid down the sleep debt already, YET I'm still having this problem: during the late morning or early afternoon, I completely lose the ability to concentrate on anything. I don't feel physically tired, but it feels like my brain is functioning as though I were very tired. I've tried using melatonin to help reset the clock, but it doesn't seem to have helped much. Naps after I get home from work are very helpful, but obviously I have to wait until 5 and I hate having to take daily naps anyway. Has this ever happened to anybody else? Should I see a neurologist or something?

One possibility is that you are eating a large lunch which kills your ability to stay alert and focus in the afternoon. This happens to a lot of people.

Maybe you just aren't getting high-quality sleep? Try something natural like ZMA before going to Melatonin.

It is naturally occurring in humans however the safety of taking large amounts of it as a supplement is still very up in the air and not something most physicians would recommend.

Regarding the original post, I'm not really sure what to suggest. I've had jet lag and such before but never for more than a few days. Has your diet changed at all recently?

For Christ's sake! It has been so long since your jet lag. If taking coffess and some stimulants still cant help ya, go see a doctor.

Sometimes with some people jet lag can take some or several to recover, usually in a progressive way. It may also help get back to foods you regular eat
