What Are You Wearing Now/Today Part I - Page 604

Like the shoes!, love the bag, the remainder I could find thrift/fleamarket/vintage, not a diss really....I just think with the cash you splash it's best spent elsewhere (Lanvin, Gucci, Marni, Dior, Balenciaga, Dries, Margiella, Branquinho, Demeulemeester etc.....), not on a "Micro Hype" designer like Thom Browne who's really rubbish!. (His last collection was a belly aching joke).

Plus he won't care what I think and he doesn't have to, but people get caught up in the hypy hype, I've been there plenty. At least I gave some props on the accessories!. P.S. Jet that is your comforter isn't it...come on lad spill the beans!. Suprised theres no hand cuffs on the bed rails either.

I don't dig Veroniuqe or Ann that much. The others I dabble in. Did you see my Lanvin outfit for the symphony on Sat night?

Adding to the hype:

Bergdorf's Thom Browne push (summarized from DNR):

Starting in August Thom is going to occupy all 3 floors of Bergdorf Goodman. The couture shop will remain on 3. The 2nd floor will have a more classic and "sartorial line" of basic suits, shirts and ties. The first floor will have a shirt/tie shop with the shirts in the grey boxes (I can post pics of mine when I went to the Tribeca store) with a grosgain ribbon wrapped around it and the fabric swatch on the outside.

The suits are going to run $3400-4200 and shirts $325-$395. Ties will stay the same around $160 and be made from suit swatches.

Right now the sizing of TB stands at 0-3 (36, 38, 40, 42) and the "sartorial line" will also have 4s and 5s.

If it will get you guys to shut up then we'll say it's mine. You better be there this week.

Socal,

I appreciate the quality of the stuff but there is definitely hype (the bad type) in regards to TB. The pricing is extortionate, there is not much value in a $700 polo I don't care if it's made from the wool of sheep scrotums. And then there are the pants which look ridiculous. TB has been bashed enough in MC so we'll stop there.

Yes, I see much more value in Lanvin (though more classic, less of the moment than Thom Browne) The floppy bow tie was eccentric to say the least but you wore the outfit well.

Well, I think he looks decent, but that was not the point. My point is that I saw the most amazing Lanvin Navy satin military cap that nearly made me weep it was so well designed. Unfortunately, at $320 at Barneys, it's a bit rich for my blood. Still, great hat. Someone buy it and end my envy everytime I look at the thing. That is all. Carry on.

I didn't buy it in navy, I got it in the tan color.

Lanvin double breasted cashmere blazer with the bowtie again.

And if you are going to praise Lanvin; but, bash Thom Browne for the pricing structure that is a bit of a double standard as for RTW Lanvin is really one of the more overpriced collection.

$1200 cotton pants with a satin stripe? While I love them and nearly bottom what makes that okay compared to Thom Browne black wool tux pants for $900?

There are several differences between Fok and Tim Gunn. Most notably:

1. Tim Gunn wears suits. Fok, nearly never.
2. Fok probably likes hats more.

Is there anything at Barneys or Bergdorfs that you don't have one of?

True but the Lanvin is Classic, ageless you'll return to those pieces as long as you own them.

If you have thousands of dollars to spend on these transiant fads "brilliant", from a poorer forum sibling's perspective I convey my point of view from a more practical stand point.

Gotcha and I respect that.

I also buy some pieces for "curatorial purposes."

Jil Sander poly "paper" blue raincoat
