Ralph Lauren. I think the extra R stands for Ranch. Basically an old line of RL that was focused on reproducing western-oriented clothing, like jeans.

If you want that type of sportcoat new, Viktor & Rolf had some in their Monsieur Collection.

What size is that sports coat? Looks really small - can you even button it? I think that is one of the shorter jackets I've ever seen someone wearing.

Not that this is a bad thing - I think the whole outfit looks really good.

MC----You got that isshhhhht down to a science. Wishing the jeans were black, ring/ring, left hand twill, and selvage, but I wish for many things, grander things, fantastical, even...

Not what I wore today, but I liked the outfit so I thought I'd get some critiques. Taken while visiting Columbia over spring break:

New Standards, 1 soak, ~3 months
Polo custom fit oxford
Justin boots
Vintage military jacket
Justin belt

nice boots, they look good with jeans. get some japanese later on!

I would skip the tshirt and maybe unbutton the jacket? Maybe it's just the stance that does it.

That jacket fits and looks great. The boots are cool too - are they Ropers? I'm with HJJ on the undershirt...I don't think it adds anything to the look. Also, the shirt seems a little long to wear untucked (RL seems to cut all their shirts with tucking in mind). Tuck it in and maybe you can show that Justin belt as well. You could also consider cuffing your APC's just a little higher when wearing them with those boots, if you want a cleaner, no-break appearance and to show more of the boots' upper. Lastly, if you're a bag sort of person, a milsurp canvas bag of some sort would work very well for carrying those papers.

Anyway, just a few thoughts/nitpicks. Combining a great jacket, jeans, and footwear means your outfit is 90% unassailable, though.

Thanks for the comments guys. As far as the jacket goes, I see where you're coming from, and I myself was wondering about buttoning it, but I like the very trim, hardcore waist suppression, English military feel.

I wore the undershirt because it was a bit chilly/windy. Do you think something navy, perhaps a v-neck, would be better?

Finally, I didn't tuck the jacket because that always feels odd to me with the low-rise NSs, and it seems to cause this weird billow right abouve the jeans. Maybe it's just me.

The boots are indeed Ropers. I love 'em. And gza, a bag would've been a good idea on that trip-lugging college viewbooks and catalogues around NYC and Boston was a bit of a bitch.

I need to find a jacket like that one, I also like the severe waist suppression.

Wish I could help you. I found that one in a box when we were cleaning out my grandfather's old stained glass studio to sell the building. It has his name on it, so I'm assuming it was issued to him at some point during his Navy career, but I've never seen something quite like it as part of a uniform, so I don't know exactly what it was for.
