Thanks all.

Yeah. The clubs in those joints are apparently pretty exclusive (in a trashy, Armani Exchange sort of way), and the bouncers wouldn't let me and my buddies in because we looked--and I quote-- "like [we] just came down from the mountain," (lots of scruffy facial hair and beanies among us.) Then a bunch of people poured out of the club, and all these girls were on us like stink on monkeys. We then tipped the bouncer and thanked him for the good time.

And the alcohol is incredibly expensive, which explains the brown paper.

Clubs like that suck. Seriously, any place that wouldn't let you dressed looking the way you did (I thought it was a pretty good outfit) is going to be full of striped shirt dudes. You shouldve thanked the bouncer profusely. The best clubs realize that "character" is more important than anything else, and don't try to keep a homogeneous crowd.

I think this is a really interesting take on the striped tee. The stripes are screened on the inside, so it's a hazy gray on the outside. Spruce tee, EG belt, APC jeans, Vans.

You've got that look nailed; that's for damn sure.

Screened prints on the inside? Isn't that really uncomfortable?

Not necessarily. Nowadays they have "soft hand" which is an agent that causes plastisol ink (the thick kind that feels stiff) very thin and comfortable.

Also, it could be waterbased ink, which you cant feel AT ALL after its been washed - it soaks into the garment (this is the dying method I use for my clothing).

Okay, I want to know how many here have the Engineered Garments Belt, and if you could all send me pictures of you guys wearing it. The pics that j. (if he had a head it would be much better), Brian (same), and Metal Circus posted are perfect. I want to make a collage to send to Daiki and maybe persuade him to make a limited edition "Styleforum" belt, maybe in a tan or chocolate suede or something, for us.

Stop me if you think this sounds stupid, but I've always thought that the EG quick-release buckle would really suit a belt of medium-brown hair-on-hide calf, long-ish pony hair, kinda plush:

Just throwing it out there.

Sounds interesting, but I can't ask Daiki to make a special belt that one person would buy. I think that tan or chestnut suede would have a lot wider appeal.

LAGuy, I have the engineered garments quick release belt in the brown color. I love it. But I was wondering, when I purchased the belt from gary he said to wear the belt in the opposite direction from normal, with the quick release latch facing upwards. However, when I see the models on the engineered garments webpage they are wearing the belt with the latch facing down, like when the belt is threaded from left to right. The printed name *engineered garments* also reads the right way when put on in this direction like a normal belt. Which is the "correct" way to wear the belt?

Also, I found some info about the daines and hathaway quick release belt on a japanese web site. Is this the u.k. company that produces the belt for engineered garments?

I am not really sure which is the "correct" way of wearing the belt. I think that Gary may be in error, but I find that the release is sometimes too quick on the draw when I wear it the other way. However, j., Brian, and others do, and it seems to work well for them.

The Engineered Garments belt is not made by Danes and Hathaway, at least not the leather part. Of that I am sure. I am not sure who makes the buckle, but I think that there are some differences (the D&H buckles do not seem to be in brass, the buckle appears shorter) between the buckles. The Engineered Garments buckle could certainly be a version of that buckle made especially for Daiki - he takes a lot of time searching out original makers and have them make the original product with an Engineered Garments spin on it. Maybe I'll ask him...
