It's definitely not the angle, you guys are absolutely correct; those boots have a rather rounded (think Ann Demeulemeester) and bulbous toe. I do believe they complement the rest of my more pointy boots and dress shoes nicely and give a different edge to the clean, monochromatic outfits I often wear. I'm somewhat moving away from the rocker aesthetic and this is a conscious stylistic choice so I have absolutely no excuses, the fit is intentional.
The heels aren't that high though, but since the vibram sole was added after the fact, I does not cover the middle part of the shoe and can give that impression at some angles; once again I specifically asked the cobbler not to place rubber there so...
