Dear all,

I have made a bet with one og my friends that (x) brand is among top 5 most popular shirt brands in the world. Please list what you mean is top 5 most famous brands in the world (not necessarily the best).

Thanks

I'm sure Turnbull & Asser is up there.

If we're talking purely 'fame' rather than quality then it would probably be something like: Gucci Prada Armani Boss Dolce & Gabbana (Off the top of my head and in no particular order) Most people I know have never even heard of T&A...

Assuming you're talking about business dress shirts, and we're talking about the US, the answers are probably kind of pathetic.

Donald Trump
Arrow
Sam's Club
Gant
Jane Bharnes

From thrifting I would throw out some of these:

Van Heusen
Gap
Arrow
Nautica
Tommy Hilfiger

Can't pull any more super common ones off the top of my head but maybe after I hit up a thrift store today I can report back

Who's been to enough parts of the world to know such a thing?

I agree that popular and prestigious are two different things. But I'm surprised nobody's mentioned Charvet.

I'd say what you find in most common mall stores would be the most popular (in no particular order)... Stafford Van Heusen RL Calvin Klein Dockers Also depends on the age group I would suppose.

I hope this is not the case, they're shirts are terrible IMO.

In the US you are most likely to have Brooks Brothers, Thomas Pink and Ralph Lauren/Polo.

There should be at least 3 sets answers:

Most prestigious shirts/ best shirts (by connoisseurs reading this forum), none of the shirts in this group would come close to being the "most popular shirts" as asked by the OP:
Anna Mautozzo
Cesare Attolini
La Vera Satoria
Lorenzini
Charvet
Stefano Ricci
Alex Kabbaz
Kiton
Fray
Brioni
.....

Most desired shirt brands by an average person with some fashion sense (reads Vogue, GQ, Esquire from time to time):
Armani
Polo by Ralph Lauren
Hugo Boss
Versace
Calvin Klein
Tommy Hilfiger
LV
Prada
D&G
Gucci
........

Most popular shirts in America (by sales volume)
Van Heusen
Arrow
Gap
Old Navy
Izod
......
I am not really sure who else belong to this list. DNR (no longer in business) used to publish this kind of data.
