Dictate my taste in watches: Omega AT or longines MC

stunning watch, but of course that would be a $1000 difference for one trading in Australian currency, probably worth it too. If I had bought these 6 months ago when the dollars were at parity I'd have literally saved myself thousands (or at least one thousand)!

I have that AT in question and like it alot, while I think it looks good with a brown strap (though I have it on the bracelet) I have been told by many that it would look better on a blue leather strap.

The longines is nice also but I would be concerned as I believe it is a modular chrono which would make me hesitate, plus overall value retention for Omega is a bit better, not to mention the quality of the movement....I was considering the Master dual crown compressor diver myself but since I have a Sub felt that two dive watches were a bit much.

I like the blue in either, it adds a little bit of color...the JLC's are nice also, but I doubt one can find them new in the same price range as either of the watches you are looking at, not to mention service costs would be alot more.

And if you don't mind ordering from the states I have an Authorised dealer contact that is usually pretty competitive on price, he would be able to get you either the Omega, Longines, or I believe the Tag as well.

I think that Tag is way over-hyped. Once you see it in person, it's nothing special. I also was ga-ga for the Longines Master Collection... until I actually tried one on. It's so clunky, it's just not attractive. The clear winner here is the Aqua-terra. The first JLC proposed is also really nice, I'm surprised it's in the same price range as the other ones.

(Full disclosure: I own an Omega Seamaster, so I'm biased)

You may also want to look at the IWC Spitfire UTC which could be had for the same price as the Longines. It is definitely on my short list.

I have a Omega AT and I love it (silver face with silver hands). That Longiness is far too busy, and you seem to have the chronograph functions covered on other watches.

For comparison, I have an IWC GST chrono, an Omega Broad Arrow Speedmaster, and a Sinn 956 Klassic; all chronographs. The AT is basic, classic, and beautifully finished. I feel like it really rounds out my collection.

I prefer the longines. The Omega seems to bland, if you put a seiko logo on it you would think nothing it. Im biased because I own a longines watch and think its great.

I think the proportions of the AT are great. Here are a couple of pics I had on my comp of it:

As far as blue hands/brown strap...my IWC 3714-17 has blued hands and looks great on brown leather IMO. It makes the blue pop in a more striking way.

That spoon picture is one of the ones that pushed me over the edge for the AT with the blue hands...

Back to the drawing board (IMHO). You can do a lot better in this market at that price point. First is way overdone second is way overpriced and blah.

I have the same Omega, only with the gold numerals and hands. The AT is a stunning watch, IMO.

Those pictures have changed my opinion on the Omega. Looks much nicer then the Longines because of the vibrant blue.
