Aren't those all like 5-600 calories though? I don't mind eating something high cal, but then it should be one of Gale Gand's pastries or the incredible black truffle rissotto at Spiaggia, not some meathead bar. They all taste like shit.

true. and often times they have just as much sugar. you'd be just fine grabbing some milk and a bag of peanuts in the airport terminal. anything's better than nothing. LaraBars are great though. ~300 cals, good fiber, fats and protein. they sell em at costco and trader joe's. all fruit and nut, natural ingredients and no added sugar.

And still 100% bullshit.

I just buy milk or get KFC crispy strips if I know I'm gonna be at the airport all day. Beef jerky in the bookstores works too.

I'll check out Lara Bars. I like the grain/fruit idea. 300 cal is perfect for a snack. Is it big enough?

Other protein bars and energy whatever taste like chalk that's been marinated in shit broth. They all have this disgusting texture that is like spackle on the roof of your mouth.

They're not as good as actual food for sure. I usually go with them when I know I won't have time to eat a real meal or a snack I prepared. beef jerky works (if it doesn't have a ton of sugar and it's usually chock-full of sodium and nitrates) and so does milk. I tend to steer clear of the transfatty not-chicken whenever possible. And they're big enough to tide you over for a few hours, and don't taste gross like most clif or powerbars.

Acute doesn't sound good, pal.

I have to admit to keeping a stash of Nature Valley bars in my desk to hi if I find myself hungry (not often). I think they are Sweet & Salty or something similar. Great taste; not at all like some fucking stinky hippie food.

Really? Shit, I didnt think so. I mean, sometimes it can almost be doubling over kind of shit, like hard to think. But I know that it's hunger, not anything else.

+1 for the clif bars. The chocolate ones are the jam.

What's wrong with nuts? Just bring a lunchbox with walnuts, almonds, etc. You get protein and fat - long-term energy, no insulin spikes, sufficient protein turnover and as healthy as it gets!

I'm sure he's quite nutrious.

Almonds
Cashews
Walnuts
Hazelnut
Pecans
Pistachio
Brazil nuts

Peanuts

Pumpkin seeds
Sesame seeds
Sunflower seeds
Flaxseeds

1: only eat 1 brazil nut a day, they contain LOTS of selenium.
2: peanuts are actually not nuts.
3: nuts contain around 15 grams of protein per 100g. Pecans only have 9g while peanuts contain 25g.
