but when I see the overproduced websites of a place like Whitcomb and Shaftesbury or what have you I start to smell a rat.
RJMan, I finally understand the allusion you're making. Since I'm not familiar with Saville houses, I thought it was just another tailoring house I'd never heard of. But, dude, you're being too harsh. Why can't they give you quality suits at a lower price point than its competitors? That's what Carlo Franco does with his ties. I wouldn't be surprised if they can give their customers high quality suit at lower prices by simply outsourcing most of the work to India and cutting down on all the labor costs. India also has a fine tradition of tailoring, as do most of the colonies in the british empire.

i think its wrong to compare Darren's forthcoming site with Tom's - in actuality Tom's real site is terrible with the world;s ugliest use of flash. The English Cut blog however is a fantastic resource, and is not an exercise in design - its an exercise in dialogue that is seemingly both widely enjoyed and an effective business tool. It has more in common with what Darren contributes here than with what Darren is trying to acheive with his new site.
