Never been, sorry. According to the website it's been around for quite a while, which is good.

Two interesting sounding the events attached to the show:

Saturday, January 10
9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
Appraisal of Antiques
Katzen Arts Center
$10 per item. No reservations required.

Come to the Washington Antiques Show's answer to the Antiques Road Show. Learn about the history and value of your favorite antiques. Dealers exhibiting at the show will give you verbal appraisals. Bring your items or, if your treasure is too large to carry, bring a photograph. You'll not only learn the background of your treasured piece, but you'll gain an idea of its value for insurance or sale. $10 per item, no advance reservations required.

6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
New Collectors' Evening
Katzen Arts Center
$75 per person
($35 Tax Deductible)
Advance reservations required.

Join old and new friends at the New Collectors' Evening and peruse antiques while enjoying an exceptional and fun wine tasting. This evening is perfect for new collectors who want to learn more about antiques in a welcoming environment. This event includes a one-day admission ticket to the show for January 11th.

Btw, there will be a new arts and antiques show in DC this spring. It will be at the Convention Center and should be big. I can't remember when, but I have a flier at home--and I'm sure there'll be information about it at this one.

I'm almost expecting you to show up for the DC "madams" more than anything.

Watch out for all of the kiddies coming back from winter break this weekend.

I have been to S.F.'s version of these high-end antiques show numerous times. The summary: extremely costly chintzy things, and bad expensive food. As for the people, were they not wealthy, they would be wearing Anne Klein, the Gap and Jos A.Banks. For $20, one is not even treated to old queeny aesthetes; fortunately, I get free passes.
