Unfiltered apple juice - why is it so uncommon?

It tastes to incredible, but it's so freakin' hard to find. Why?

B/c people don't like to see cloudy "gunk" in their drinks, they think that it makes it unsafe and dirty to drink, so they'll go for the flavorless, yet clear, filtered variety every day.

I love it. The problem is that it is quite acidic and can be bad if you drink too much. When I find really amazing apple juice at whole foods I tend to drink the whole thing in like an hour.

I think a lot of companies stopped doing unfiltered/unpasteurized juice after a batch or two was found with e. coli a few years ago.

Like olive oil, beer, honey and even wine-it's not as easy to market when people are used to expecting things to be of a certain color or clarity. That's one of the reasons that all sorts of consumer liquids come in tinted bottles.

Ofcourse, it can hardly be more acidic then most soda brands out there. The difference is, I think, added sugar in for instance coke. I, pedanticly, looked it up: http://www.21stcenturydental.com/smith/pH_drinks.htm Cheers

I don't think their normal apple does. IIRC they have an unfiltered offering as well. It's been a while since I bought apple juice though.

This thread has me wanting to stop at WF or TJ to get some though...
