Details SUCKS

I only read this magazine from time to time because I get it free, but wow, has the quality gone downhill. This time I'm not talking about clothing, although their tastes there are terrible as well. They had a brief article about how to order expensive wine, and they recommended ordering high end bottles because there is likely less markup... yeah ok, maybe in terms of the percentage, but as they need to pay more for the bottles, generally they will pass those costs (and the carrying costs) on to the customer. THEN, details said something like "you may want to look at wines from less heralded regions, such as Santa Barbara Cabernets, as they will likely be cheaper than those from Napa Valley" well, obviously they are cheaper than those from Napa, because they SUCK. No mention about how the cool climate in Santa Barbara County makes it less than optimal for growing cabernet, so they are of subpar quality, thus, lower prices... just a stupid generalization that is utterly and completely wrong. That article was less than worthless, it was misinformed and deceptive (unintentionally) ugh.

They sometimes have interesting articles. I found their article about Maxim Vengerov very interesting, though it was quite clear they knew about as much about that area of music as they know about Cali wines.
