Wow, M@t, a couple of those pix makes me really hope you like your latest suit purchase.
living in 100+ weather and 90+ humidity every day tends to very quickly reduce your weekend wear to t-shirts and shorts.

Now run that whole $2/massage past me again??? Is this an actual massage? or a "massage"?
there are a wide and varied array of massage options available here, with varying degrees of offered service - however the one I frequent is the blind charity place. Very noble of me huh. There for 30000 Vietnamese Dong (just under 2USD) - you get an extremely good one hour massage with all the money to blind welfare.

A nice change of pace ... given your likes ... check out Peru or Argentina.  It's early Fall in the southern hemisphere, and if you're looking to get away, hiking the Inca trail and visiting Machu Pichu (sp?) might be a good way to spend some time.   And Buenos Aires is always hopping -- lots of cafes, shops, great steaks, etc.  You can have a beautiful bespoke leather jacket made for a couple hundred bucks.  If you get bored of the city, you can head out to Iguazu Falls or down south into the Patagonia region.  Lots to see there. Finally, The United Airlines magazine does a regular feature on short three/four day getaways.  It's called "Three Perfect Days" -- check it out: Hemispheres Magazine Cheers, Hoya

For warmer weather and beautiful scenery, you might consider the south of France and Italy both during the same trip. For people watching, the Riviera, for nature, go inland a bit. Then cross over to Italy, to the pre-Alps, and find small villages like Dolce Aqua, or the hustle and bustle (and car fumes...) of San Remo. Great pesto, there. If you choose to go, I can give you more pointers.

For a few days, Venice. There are some sartorial opportunities there-custom shirtmaker right around the Church of St. Moise. The Elite menswear store. Course I've been only once and then many years ago. Loved it there.

ohhh i just relooked at the pics and saw which ones you were refering to - if you go to a place about an hour outside Saigon called Cu Chi, they will let you fire pretty much any kind of gun you can image for a dollar a bullet...ak47s m16s m60s theyre just there on racks, pay the guy at the counter, he gives you some busted old faux-sony headphones as ear protection and a a handful of bullets and away you go. ...but in Cambodia they will let you loose with a grenade launcher in a field full of wild pigs for the same money....and for three dollars you can shoot a live cow with a rocket launcher from about 30 feet PS - i abstained

If you're up for spending money and don't care about going someplace you can wear shorts and short-sleeves, then: Paris London Vienna Florence Morocco (Casablanca, Fez, etc. -- my top pick; relatively warm now too) (I can give you the name of a travel co. w/hotels, etc. if you're interested) If you want a beach, consider Puerto Escondido in Mexico on Mexico's Pacific Coast. Laid back, some topless women (a few Europeans slum there), great seafood, very cheap. Walk down the beach a mile or two, climb up one of the big boulders along the beach and you'll see nothing but palm trees and empty beach in the distance as far as the eye can see. Amazing place. If you want floozies, then hit the spring break beaches in Florida or Cancun or perhaps South Padre Island, Texas. Foreign floozies? Vietnam/Bangkok sound enticing, but pretty expensive to get there. If you want cheap, and an unforgettable trip, and you've got a comfortable, reliable car, do a cross country drive, going the southern route (route 40 or a road even further south). I did this once, mostly by myself but visiting friends in AZ and MT over a 3-week period. It was BY FAR the most memorable trip I have ever been on. Good luck.

Sick, but I can't stop laughing about this. My uncle said the same thing after he went there. He also abstained.

Are these the scars left to a country after a regime such as that of Pol Pot?

more a factor of simple economic reality in a country that is dirt poor with a staggeringly corrupt government (arguably even more corrupt than Vietnam, which still manages to amaze me on an almost daily basis) a soldier's salary - around $25 a month a soldier's access to ammunition - unlimited so basically some soldier making about 75c a day can quadruple his daily income if lets just one tourist use his gun for 10 minutes...after which time he wanders back down to base, says he emptied his magazine at the range, please sir can i have another.
