Is this thread dead? Funny, I've been on this forum for years and just came across it.

I'm still here! But this thread has indeed seemed to die... let's bring it back to life!

Holt was doing a MTM suit sale last week on their "in house" brand. Really it's just a Copply MTM with Holt tags. I picked one up, turnaround is not bad 2-3 weeks. I usually get my suits and shirts through Maxwells when they are here a couple times a year. Quality is decent for price, just wanted to try something new. Based on my experience with the guy at Holt I'm expecting a better product, that and the suit is almost twice the price. Anyone else have experience with Holt/Copply MTM suits? I'll let you know how I make out.

I started this thread 3 years ago and it's still going - seems pretty good to me.

I've had coppley MTM from Henry Singer and Harry Rosen, they do a decent job. They actually have 2 version of their mtm program - one where they tweak an existing off the shelf style (i.e. just shorten it an inch) and one where they do a more comprehensive set of measurements. I've tried both with decent results. Probably the best local bang for your buck in MTM. I think they are a big step up from Maxwell's, but I only had one experience with them and it wasn't great.

any recommendations for a cobbler? I have shoes that need repair...tricky thing is it has to be open later or weekends as I work just out of town, so regular business hours don't work for me.

Thanks

Thanks

If you search this thread you'll see nothing but praise for Expert Shoe Repair in the NE corner of downtown - near the Sutton Place Hotel, I think it's called.

The guys there have been incredible for me and I've had ~8 pairs of shoes taken care of there over the last 2-3 years. The hours might not fit your needs and it is cash/cheque only but please do check them out if you want quality work done by people who care about their work.

The great thing is, along with shoes, you can chat about watches for hours with the younger guy there. I wish I knew his name.

Thanks..I'll check their hours and see if I can squeek in before closing. Maybe I can classify shoe repair as a medical appointment, then I can get the afternoon off to get my shoes fixed

Indeed.

I'm out of town April 27-29 and May 2-13.

May 17 looks like an ideal day for me. Let's stay away from the weekends if we can.

I'll be in Vancouver May 17-20, unfortunately. Weeknights are fine with me, I'm often downtown anyways.
