Everyone's 2009 Clothing Plans / 2008 Insights ?

Personal style is an ever-evolving state. Since we've just crossed into 2009, has anyone started making their plans for what they are looking for for their wardrobes 2009 and any useful insights gained 2008?

2009 will be my year for:

jackets with more drape a la the Manton - I have one jacket done in that style which wasn't completely satisfactory, but the drape was an interesting, old-school feature which I appreciate.

3 button thin lapel, somewhat short like DocHolliday - I'm a biter

1 button - details I have yet to work out

more discerning about comfort of footwear - I'd say only 25% of my shoe purchases last year were comfortable for extra long periods of time. I do a lot of walking, I want to try and take care of my feet.

straight pockets instead of hacking pockets on some jackets

long peacoats/scooter coats

better buttons (Must get to Tender Buttons in NYC at some point this year)

2008 I learned:

Comfort is overrated but tightness is overrated as well

Shoe fit is much more hit and miss than suits

Altea is underrated

Navy blue ties are something everyone should have (I now have four)

Was able to take care of my 09 plans a lot today.

My plan is to veer much more into the mainstream/conservative land.

I've had a lot of fun putting some pretty crazy things together, but new times call for new wardrobes so I'm thinking much more about how useful items will be.

I'm veering toward boring I guess

Maybe a few ancient madder ties. That is about all, I think...

I had my chance at Wilkes and I passed. Foolish economy.

I'd like to get some solid navy and charcoal suits. I don't have either.

Duh. I have a charcoal flannel DB but that is useless.

Not useless. But limited. You do need a solid dark SB suit. As a trad, you should feel this in your bones.

I bought a J. Press charcoal on Fleabay but it was a 40R. It was so beautiful that I bought it knowing it wouldn't fit. I just had to try.

2009 brings hope to phase-out most of my current suits in favor a few better made ones (a Freeman's hopefully and if budget allows maybe a Mr. Ned custom). I've recently made a trip to Carl at CEGO for my first fitting and to pick out a handful of fabrics, so 2009 also brings with it the exciting point where I can start tossing out my poor-fitting OTR (and mediocre-fitting MTM) shirts. I'm really looking forward to receiving Carl's work. As if new suits and shirts aren't enough, I really want new shoes -- one set in black and brown dress, and a pair of wingtips I can break in for casual wear. Maybe new leather boots and a slimmer coat for next winter. Oh, and what I really don't need but want is a pair of velvet slippers. Even if I wear my tux once a year, it'd be worth it to pull off a sharp look. I'm going back to grad school starting in the Fall, so I'll likely invest in some more jeans and all sorts of other casual goodies (casual clothing is not my fortà ). I'll be relying heavily on SF. Heh.

I'm sure there is room to let out in the belly area.

I had been meaning to ask about the solid navy blue tie as I've been debating between one with just a BIT of sheen (nothing trashy) or a duller one. Thoughts?

I prefer dull or at most with slight lustre but I prefer that for all my ties.
