Help me brine a chicken!

So...I am roasting a whole chicken tomorrow night and want to try brining it.

Anybody have a superlative technique/recipe for brine?

How big's the chicken? Try 2 qt hot water, add 1/2 cup salt, 1/2 sugar, small handful of whole allspice cloves, three bay leaves, small handful of peppercorns and lightly crush allspice and pepper with pestle or use rolling pin. Dissolve salt and sugar in water in a large soup pot. Add the rest of ingredients. Add the chicken, let sit at least 4 hrs, but overnight is better.

^ That's a pretty good recipe. Taste the brine as you add ingredients so you can adjust seasoning accordingly. One other step I would mention is to let the brine cool before adding the chicken.

Thanks Gents!

I just finished making the brine, using an approximation of that recipe...I dissolved the salt and sugar in a small amount of water and then added ice and cold water to that concentrated brine to cool it down. The chicken is soaking away now. I plan to leave it overnight. In the morning I will rinse it off and air dry it a bit before the actual roasting.
