Elevator Shoes

I'm sure it's taboo to think of but I recently have been considering elevator shoes for the work environment. I am 5'8" and work/negotiate with guys routinely over 6'2", it would be nice to have a few extra inches. I have looked at www.bugarrishoes.com and they don't look too awful un-fashionable.

Does anyone have any experience with elevator shoes? With Bugarri inparticular? Are the shoes typically huge and stick out like a sore thumb?

BTW I put this in this forum because it was a height related issue.

I'm about your height and I would not wear those shoes for even one day unless someone paid me a large sum of money.

My advice: find a psychologist to help you get over your height issues and learn how to conduct yourself assertively but professionally at work.

I heard a line sometime something like "if you only knew how little other people were thinking about you (your height, zit, type of car you drive, etc...) then you would not worry too much."

My business partner is 6'4...I am 5'11...and I close a hell of a lot more deals than him LOL...get your game on!

I'm 6'4", so most everyone I deal with is shorter than me. Doesn't bother me. If I happened to notice the shoes, I would definitely think less of the person. Heels on a woman are a different story though.

This post is about "elevator shoes" and if anyone has experience with them. Why did it quickly turn into a boost his self-confidence thing?

I really like Hewsinator's quote but my only argument is that EVERYONE is self-confident to some extent about something. Why do you think 99% of this forum is here? We cover up whatever sort of insecurity we have but we don't do it with altering our height. We do it with fine suits, raw denim and exotic shoes.

Also why would he go to a shrink and spend a boatload or $$$ when he could just get a freaking pair of shoes. Its not like he is suffering from debilitating depression.

I would say buy the shoes if they will help the way you feel at work. But realize the person in those shoes is the same with or without them.

5'8 isn't too bad, but you need to get over your height issue. It's only a problem if you can't get over it.

Absolutely, it's not like you're a short person, so what if you're dealing with taller people, that doesn't make them better dealer, negotiators or better at sales. It's what you are and what you do that counts. But if you want to go for elevator shoes then go ahead, they must be selling them to other people or no one would make these types of shoes

I don't know, I don't like them. I also don't like toupes. It me, it just feels like lying. I see nothing wrong with wearing boots that normally add maybe like an inch or a little more to your height, but a 4" difference is huge and noticeable. The second someone sees you in a situation without them on, they will know. They might not say, but they'll know.

It's not an issue of height, but confidence. I don't think anyone is going to be judgmental on your work abilities because of your height. I now find myself regularly around 6"3 and I myself am 5"9' but I don't really feel short. I look them in the eye when I talk and don't act any different than I would with someone my height.

He's wearing elevator shoes!

Why don't you try elevator insoles? theyre much more subtle and pretty much impossible to detect.

Just be sassy and wear chunky women's shoes (with a thick heel), buy lots of scarves.
