Ralph Lauren lines, and 'who makes what' - a definitive guide - Page 40

The Anthony looks like its lifted straight from Black Label. If I were you, I would wait to get your Anthony suit with a nice little purple label "RL" tag on the inside. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

The purple tag is nice but as most (if not all) RLBL are going on sale and their suits are around $500-$600... I think ~$1500 discount for a black tag is a fair trade-off.

I guess this forum needs some re-writing. "Ralph Lauren lines and who makes what - a definitive guide." The answer? Stefan Larsson is making the clothes.
Stefan Larsson is the CEO but I doubt he is "making" the clothes... I'm actually curious, for those that have handled the new PL Anthony, if Caruso is still making them...

I noticed that Ralph Lauren is having a large sale. The online prices do not reflect the magnitude. I spoke to a salesman at the Chevy Chase store here in DC. Since RL is discontinuing Black Label the stores are offering large discounts. I just bought the Gray Anthony Sharkskin in 42L for $539. Online it is still over $1k even with the discount.

Thanks to thomasec for the head's up!

Hard to say. I've seen some recent SCs made my Cantarelli (i know that they made RLPL in the past, so maybe they're back?).

Looks like RL has rolled out the new Anthony Sharkskin suit as part of the Purple Label line.

Here's the now discontinued (and on sale in a big way) Black Label version: http://www.ralphlauren.com/product/index.jsp?productId=21540906

Here's the new Purple Label version of the same suit with a $500 price increase: http://www.ralphlauren.com/product/index.jsp?productId=83760606

I wonder if the maker has changed?

I've seen some of the new suits in department stores, and they still start at $1,995 there, but the ones sold (so far) in the RL stores and on the company website seem to start at $2,295. This suggests to me that the suits are pretty much the same, but RL has decided to make a price jump, while the independent retailers still want something in the $2k range.

I dropped by the Polo store on 5th Ave and saw the suits are made in Slovenia. Who's the maker now? Before this line was made by Corneliani, no?

Still corneliani. Made in their Slovakia factory.

What ever happened to the deal whereby Hickey Freeman was going to produce for PRL?
I was always told that Black Label was made by Caruso. PL too, or so I thought. Am I incorrect?
You are correct. I think RLPL has moved back to St. Andrews, though.

how about the Anthony cut RLPL (at significant lower px than other RLPL but pricer than the old RLBL), still caruso I guess?
I think that's only RLPL inasmuch as the Black Label items are all under the Purple Label listing now. My guess is that it's the same item at a higher price point, so more a case of RLBL being more expensive than before than one of RLPL dropping in price.

Has anyone seen if there are additional discounts on black label items in the last few days?

There are, just you need to go in to the store.
