Green tea! - Page 3

Try rooibos too. 2 - 4 times the antioxidants of green tea, has no caffeine, and acts as a mild nerve relaxer. Get the loose leaf high grade stuff from upton (about 35 bucks for a kilo). The stuff in bags from the grocery includes stalks, etc so it's not as potent. I put two tablespoons in my 5 cup coffee pot and brew 2 cup batches, and am able to re-brew using the same rooibos needles two or three times. Definitely relaxes my nerves. Gave my mother a cup of my roobios concoction once and it made her so loopy and drunk she fell down the stairs (backward) lol. Mothers feed their babies rooibos to ease cholic. And it's great for the skin.

You say you drink it cold, but was the tea "steeped" (what in the hell is past-tense for steep?) in hot water? I'm sure I wont will a nobel for this but I was always under the impression that the heat activates the release of a good protion of the health benefits from the leaf.

Yes of course, I steep it around 8am and start drinking it around 11 when it's nice and cool.

You can 'cold brew' green tea if you want. There are a number of sites dedicated to the different brewing methods for different teas. Depending on how you brew the tea different nutrients will be released at different levels and I beleieve it may last a bit longer if done a certain way. I have heard that green tea is best brewed at around 70 degrees which is how I do it. I use around 10 tea bags depending on which brand I am using, fill a pitcher with roughly 70 degree water, place the tea bags in, cover the top, let sit out for about 30 mins then let sit in the fridge for about 3 hours with the tea bags before taking them out. Usually last me about 3 days (at 2 or so 8 oz glasses a day) dont really want to keep it much longer than that anyways as itll not be much good.

I don't really enjoy the taste of green tea (or any tea for that matter), but I like the taste of Mighty Leaf's Tropical blend. It's kinda pinapple-y. I get it at Vitamin Shop.

Almost guaranteed you didn't make it correctly. So many people oversteep Tetley's-brand crap and think that that is what green tea is supposed to taste like.

+1, its not so simple to make good green tea

Even when made well, green tea isn't good- it's just a neutral flavor. To make it good, you need to add other things; I add lemon or honey.
