Question for single guys around 30-35 years old - Page 2

Biggest waste of paper outside of phone books. I got a couple cards from clients... checked the inside for a crisp ten dollar bill, and promptly recycled each.

This year I found a hideous sweater and grew out my moustache then took a photo of myself standing next to my Christmas tree with a ridiculous smile on my face and sent it out.

Was hilarious. Went over well.

I usually call to say thanks. if they send a gift, I send a thank-you note.

My brother is an artist, so a few years ago I had him do a B&W illustration in a tasteful holiday design. We had them copied and trimmed on cardstock at Kinko's, then them out in see-through vellum envelopes and they were a smashing hit.

That said, that's the only time in the past few years I got up off my tail enough to do it. I do think it's a nice thought though and people seem to enjoy it.

I send e-cards, and also, I do parodies of "family update cards" which I send to my married friends, they usually consist of fake travels to places they cannot go to because they are married and/or have kids, and thus it would be difficult to do so... also, a fictional list of the past year's girlfriends (just kidding, I'm still a virgin).

I'm only 23 and definitely not married. I do send Thank you cards to relatives for Christmas Gifts that I've received but I definitely don't do the "Christmas Card" thing.

My mom forces my dad to do the Christmas Cards so she doesn't have to (all that laundry, cooking, cleaning gives her some leverage I suppose). Of course he procrastinates until 5 days before Christmas to do it and then has to overnight the cards...sounds like exactly what I would do!

A couple years ago, using Photoshop, I made a nice card with a recent family photo of everyone along with a nice wintry background/border and "Happy Holidays" on it. My parents used it that year and it went over very well with all the family friends whom we haven't seen in a while.

I wouldn't worry about it too much if you're a bachelor.

Do you send out holiday cards to friends? A lot of my friends are married now, and of course they send out holiday cards.

So, what do you do?

With all the viruses claiming to be eCards, I don't even trust those any more. I delete anything looking remotely like an eCard.

Anyone who sends me a Christmas card is instantly purged from my circle of trust into the darkest zone of the universe, where the light of my friendship doesn't shine. I can admit it from acquaintances and other professionals (say my dentist).

No cards. never have. I find people who send out more than 4-5 identical cards mildly offensive.
