Not as good as I was expecting. Eastwood turns in a good performance as always, but the supporting cast just couldn't act (with one or two exceptions). The end was almost too "cutesy."

My theory on this movie is that Eastwood is that way in real life and no one told him they were filming a movie.

Considering the good movies he's made in the past, this whole old-man-getoffmylaw-i'm a mysterious war vet but I dont like to talk about it is so contrived. Then you throw in the beyond stereotypical FOB family and you start scratching your head, wondering what happened in between Flags of Our Fathers/Letters from Iwo Jima and this shit.

I've read reviews that say, "But the family had to be stereotypical because the movie was a meditation on stereotypes!!!" Yeah OK. Idiots.

^^ This, or I keep thinking that he just writes the word "BADASS" on the script and hands it over to the producers.
