I've always liked Mahogany Rush -- pretty good Hendrix-type hard rock, with some spectacular guitar playing by Frank Marino. Not exactly the kind of stuff that will make me forget about my Van Morrison or Miles Davis albums, but always fun to crank up every once in a while.

Really loving the Vancouver band Said the Whale.

I cannot believe noone mentioned this in the NS bands post, but:
The Trews

Then I second the Hip, Metric, and along the lines of the Real McKenzies, the Dreadnoughts. Billy Talent and MTSRKRFT,

Also Sam Roberts deserves a mention

Then there are still bands that make it big in Canada and elsewhere, that are still relatively unheard of in the States, like The Tragically Hip and The Tea Party.

When I heard what Gord Dowie made, it was quite shocking, considering the brilliance of the band. Then, I heard what the Nickleback drummer got just for a signing bonus. Gotta sell in the $tates.

Speaking of the greatest band of all time, Rush are tearing up Europe now then back to the States for their Time Machine tour. They have been on fire live over the last 3 tours. See them if you can.
