Help me with exercise/eating plan - Page 5

If you do decide to do starting strength and you think its easy please enjoy that feeling. I've been on it a bit and did squat 240x5x3 overhead 110x5x3 dead 285 x 5 dips 10x3 and I felt like I was gonna see Jesus. Maybe I'm just a wimp but that shit felt heavy.

haha truth. my gym has a winding staircase going from the entrance to the workout area and I always look haggard staggering up and out of there post-squats and deads (esp when both are on the same day)

I think it's funny that the bodybuilder types I see there can shoulder-shrug 380 but can't squat their own weight.

1 did 1 1/8 of a mile today without stopping. Got some water and did a 1/4 mile cool down. 8 minutes of torture on the rowing machine, then a bunch of Cybex machines (overhead press, etc.). Whew.

Congrats.

Now do it again Thursday.

In my humble opinion, bodybuilding.com is an excellent site.

I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. It's populated mainly by children with less than stellar physiques who have very little knowledge, and experience, of proper training and dieting. The members are constantly berating each other, and then parroting what they've heard some "senior member" say. To illustrate just how juvenile the site is, I'll refer you to this article, where a bodybuilding.com member recently committed suicide (online) while other members taunted him and encouraged him to go through with it. It's a three ring circus, and there are definitely better forums with more accurate information and superior members.

I don't know man. Talking down the entire site b/c it's got a bunch of stupid kids is like saying that nobody on SF knows about clothes just because Conne and I post in Dumb Threads.

BB.com is full of such trolls they make me look like a serious poster here. Take whatever advice you get there with a grain of salt. Most of the people there are teenage kids who have no clue about anything. Read around a bit, you'll be amazed by the level of stupid. I mean...."BIG MUSCKLES R GOOD YO, FTW (NO HOMO)". That's the type of advice you will be getting.

I don't read the forum. I just browse the "super site" which I find to be quite good.

lol, I think you're referring to the infamous Misc. section. Nobody should go on there looking for a serious advise (yes, regular poster on BB.com), that section of the forum was created purely for the lulz .
There are many other sub-forums on BB.com where many well educated on the subject people post, some are even pro's in the bb world. Worth a read.

I did 8.5 miles on the bike in 24 minutes Friday. Also messed up my back with the overhead press (pushed hard two days in a row) so I'm letting that rest until Monday.
The overhead press is bad news waiting to happen. Are you going behind the neck with the barbell? I think this is one exercise where dumbbells or even machines are better.

the supersite on bb.com is actually quite good. I will say the same about T-nation, if you read the articles on the main site and keep your salt shaker handy for the forums, they're actually sources of decent information. Only thing you have to be wary of though is they're always trying to sell you shit (especially T-nation). Granted, T-nation's biotest supplements are known to be effective and I can attest to this, but their product placement gets gratuitous sometimes.

Preach on brother.

There's only a few things a guy needs to be healthy: meat, veggies, water, squats, deadlifts, presses, chins/pullups, and perhaps fish oil.
