Rumor has it that the OEM is Sutor Mantellassi. That is only a rumor. It could be any number of Italian shoes makers. They are probably good shoes with a blake welt and channeled soles.

I personally don't own a pair but know for sure that they are made in Italy. They are not C&J quality but for the price you're paying on e-bay it appears to me to be a good value.

I hope that helps.

I decided for $122 it was worth the risk. I need a pair of black captoes, so it's hard to see really getting hurt.

And if they are Sutor Mantellassis, so much the better.

If Ralph Lauren is in script, followed by "Made In England" = Edward Green

If Ralph Lauren is in block letters, followed by "Made in England" = Crockett & Jones

If Polo is followed by "Benchmade in England" = Crockett & Jones

If Ralph Lauren is in block letters the shoes are usually made in Italy by a mystery maker, perhaps Sutor as mentioned previously.

I'd say in any case above, $122 is a steal.

A poster in Jan this year contacted RL directly, and they told him that the 'Made in Italy' shoes are crafted by Sesto Meucci, not Sutor Mantellassi.

IMO it doesn't matter - you got them at a steal!

Old post, but as I was searching on a similar topic...

I could not believe it would be Sesto Meucci...they have always only been shoemakers for women..

FWIW
