How many times do you wear a dress shirt before it goes to the cleaners??

So... the reason I ask is sometimes I get lazy and don't want to steam/iron my shirts to wear a second time-- even though they are still clean after I wore it once. And sometimes, I will simply take them all to the cleaners where they come back nice and crisp again.

Do you get in the habit of ironing a shirt immediately after you wear it (before you hang it up)? Or do you hang it up after you wear it, and when you want to wear it again, you iron it then?

Or... is wearing a shirt more than once simply out of the question for some?

Once. But if I had a way to make it look fresh (i.e. ironed) without ironing it myself, I would wear it twice.

Once and only once. I wouldn't even consider wearing a shirt twice. I'd consider a jack or pants, but never a shirt.

I look at the inside collar of my shirt after 1 wear and usually find that it disgusts me so off it goes into my shirt wash bag.

I have a steamer I use to freshen up shirts. It costs me 7 bucks to clean one at Fletchers here in vancouver (non dry clean) and I don't have enough shirts yet to last me while they are being cloeaned sooo I don't have another option.

Once - shirts need to be cleaned after each wearing.

Do you dry clean or have them hand washed?

Forex - I used the dry cleaners when I was single, never had a problem with it. Also, ironing a shirt is not that tough although I take a lot longer per shirt than my wife.

For the OP, my main point is that you have to do something. Stains set in and never come out if you don't wash/dry clean the shirt right away.

I ended up tossing a tuxedo shirt a few years back because of this - only wore it for a few hours at an event and thought it didn't get dirty.

Wrong, oil and sweat from your skin still get in and when I pulled it out of the closet again it had horrible ring around the collar.

For me, yes - unthinkable. I wear once then have them laundered and ironed.

I bet you could figure it out. It's not like there's a vagina-only activator switch on washing machines.
