In online dating, women might be as concerned about looks

It's included in an article with a rather different title.

Don't bother saying that the women using online dating might not be typical women - that's obvious. They seem to be only Swedish, also. Just a hunch - it's Westernized women under maybe age 35 who put about as much emphasis on looks as men do.

This is ground-breaking research.

"Younger women, on the other hand, prefer older men: fully 14 of 16 women aged 20-39 were looking for an older partner."

About how much older?

Translated: 14/16 women are useless and need to attach themselves to a man that earns real money so that they can spend their days watching Opera and The View.

The May-December relationship since 1850: Age homogamy in the U.S.

Love, necessity and opportunity: Changing patterns of marital age homogamy in the Netherlands, 1850–1993

The second link suggests that many younger women will date up to the next age group. On the other hand, people find their marriage partners at a later age than they used to.

It would be interesting to know how old is too old to the average woman of a certain age group. And how much of a factor perceived age (for instance, from pictures) is, also in terms of whether a guy is deemed too young. There is research showing that exceptions to age limits are made for more physically attractive potential mates. And, yes, research indicates that a man with a much younger, attractive woman is often a wealthy man.

IMO, women over the age of 29/30 will date anyone who has a solid job. i see lots of 7-8 scale women with joe averages.

Well, that's opinion. It might not be reality. For example, maybe the couples were better matched in attractiveness when they first formed. It also doesn't make sense that a woman would become significantly more physically attracted to a certain type of man at that age, even accounting for changes in hormones. If it's true that standards fall around age 30, then it might be due to desperation, on which a union based is an unstable union. A disparity in initial attractiveness is associated with relationship dissolution, according to research.

Maybe, so but I se a lot of women in their low to mid 30s who have no clue their "biological clock" is ticking and are still as picky as women in their mid 20s...

Maybe it's the women who believe their looks to be sliding who "settle"? There also are many who start to panic when their friends pair up. Anyway, with more anti-aging techniques available, less pressure to marry, more objectification of men in the media, and so on, it's bad news for men who want commitment.
